This is a transcription and arrangement of Dietrich Buxtehude's anthem to the text of Psalm 113 "Praise the Lord". The sample score includes the verses to this psalm. The original is for two Sopranos and chamber ensemble of Viole da Gamba, Cello and basso continuo (organ). In contemporary times the orchestration can be modified successfully in my opinion, the anthem can be accompanied by piano, keyboard, harpsichord or organ. The Cello part can remain optional but we are including a separate Cello/Bassoon instrumental part. The two voices can be soloists (2 sopranos, soprano & tenor or soprano and mezzo-soprano) or 2 part female chorus. The texture and rhythm is typical of Baroque music: full sound and a constant beat.
