The piece is written for Mr. Jimmy Chan along with the Hong Kong Opera Chorus. This particular single-movement will be planned for becoming one of a movement of my symphony no. 2. The text of the piece is from Psalm 130. My personal feeling towards the text is so strong that I would like to set it to music. I feel extremely despair regarding various unjust events happened in the world including Chinese activist Mr. Liu Xiao Bo, being condemned for advocating political reforms in China. I call to my Lord through my music in the hope that he can hear from cry for this world.
The piece begins with a subtle introduction announced by strings and woodwinds while a soprano solo laments tenderly and expressively. Soon chorus enters and juxtaposes with the soprano solo. The music reaches its climax at the central part where the music becomes even more dramatic and chromatic. Near the end, the chorus blends with the woodwinds for generating interwoven melodic counterpoint. The chorus cries out in despair at the end.
