Polonaises

I am very fond of M. Oginski’s music! His most famous work is, undoubtedly, polonaise “Farewell to Homeland”, but he composed a lot more brilliant pieces except the polonaise. He was a well-educated person, a patriot, a politician, a military leader and that’s why his music, very refined and lyrical, was permeated with many characteristic features of the time, i. e. national Polish elements in melodic and rhythmic patterns.
