Village 95 is real minimal music for Brass Band. Originally it was written for the "Orpheo" contemporary chamber music ensemble, for recorders, woodwinds, guitars, piano, double bass and percussion.
It describes a run through an old house with many corners and stairs. Inspired by composers like Philip Glass, Wim Mertens and mainly John Adams, the piece is somewhat overwhelming by it's ostinato rhythms and spectacular effects.

This is minimal music with huge effect, originally written for chamber music ensemble in 1998. It's a musical drawing of his former 'house of stairs' with the address 'Dorp' (or Village in english) number 95, in some small Town in Flanders. The old house has many different rooms and adjacent constructions built with several years in between, on different levels, which explains a dozen or more stairs. This has become the main material for this capricious composition, in which it becomes very clear how Wim Lasoen has been influenced by the great American composer John Adams.
