For SATB choir and piano. The Living Hope
Inspired by 1 Samuel 24:1-12
and 1 Peter 1:3-9
King Saul was the king of Israel,
Anointed by the Lord above.
Favored by the Lord over all else,
Even he did not have enough love.
Saul hunted David down just like a dog.
In a cave David had Saul’s life,
in his hands, to take if he chose,
with the sharp point of his knife.
Chorus:
(Spoken) And David said,
“It’s so hard to follow you, my Lord.
It’s so easy to give up.
Nothing’s good without effort.
Sometimes life can be a bitter cup.”
Sometimes evil is our reward,
for the good deeds that we do,
Life’s a learning process, that’s for sure,
All we can do is just try to be true.
The Lord Jesus is our Living Hope.
His mercy’s more than gold.
His love is our salvation,
for us as we grow old.
Bridge:
(Spoken) And the Lord said,
“Have patience, all will come to you,
In God’s time, not yours.
The Lord Jesus is your Living Hope,
Think of eternity, not hours.”
Praise to God the Father and His Son,
who has given us new birth.
Honor, praise and glory to the Lord,
for our new life after Earth.
