A parodical instrumental version of Henry Bishop's famous tune (There's no place like home).
Each variation gives the tune to a different instrument in the group and the various styles represent the people we visit, who lend their own flavour to the tune before returning to our original home.
0. Original composition by Henry Bishop
1. Uncle Hamish - Scottish snaps and bagpipe drones
2. Uncle Scott (Joplin) a sort of ragtime version

4. Professor Wu - a major pentatonic version in honour of a doctor of mine
5. Onkel Johann (Strauss) a jolly waltz of course

“Home Sweet Home” has been around and popular for more than 150 years already. It originally comes from the 1823 opera “Clari, or the Maid of Milan” by the American dramatist (and actor) John Howard Payne. The music was composed by Sir Henry Bishop and the lyrics – by John Howard. As soon as the song got published separately from the opera, it immediately gained popularity and became a commercial success for anyone (opera’s producer, publishers) but Payne who earned very little from it. The theme was used in numerous works, including Donizetti’s opera “Anna Bolena”, Guilman’s “Fantasy for Organ” and Wood’s “Fantasia on British Sea Songs”. During the Civil War in America, the song was prohibited for listening by the soldiers as is made them too nostalgic and caused desertion.

It does indeed perfectly embrace the idea of a true home in the form of sweet music..

molto bello! There's no place like home indeed, and there couldn’t be a better song to express this thought in music! I still have an recording of Alma Gluck performing the song and I can't get enough of it even now!
