Written in 1932 by the British composer and bandleader Ray Stanley Noble, “Love Is the Sweetest Thing” became a very popular song in both hemispheres in the 40ies and later on until its latest recording in 2012. It was first performed by the British Jazz artist from South Africa – Albert Allick Bowly, better known as Al Bowly. The love song received a number of recordings in the following years, including those by Mario Lanza, Mary Hopkin, Peter Skellern and Ferlin Husky, among others. Ray Noble is also the author of such number-one hits as “Old Spinning Wheel”, “The Very Thought of You” and “Isle of Capri”, the sheet music to which can also be found in our catalogue.
