This is a version of the popular 1964 song “Dancing in the Street” recorded by the duet of David Bowie and Mick Jagger. The original song was written by the team of Marvin Gaye, William Stevenson & Ivy Jo Hunter. It gained popularity after the recording made by the American group Martha and the Vandellas whose single became the No. 3 in the UK. In 1985, Bowie and Jagger recorded their version of “Dancing in the Street” with the aim to raise money for a famine relief cause (Live Aid concert held simultaneously in London and Philadelphia). All profits from the single released that year went to charity. And commercially, it was a very successful song, reaching the 1st position in the UK and the 7th in the US.

Okay. How do I find which of these is the original sheet music by Martha & The Vandellas?
Diana Voltaire 29 Jun 2016 13:36
Putting it absolutely honest, I like the original hit by Martha and the Vandellas way more than the version by these two, although legendary, men. I think that some composition should better be played the way they had been originally created as none of the covers is actually able to make it sound better. Dancing in the Street is one of those songs to me. No complaints as far as this sheet music goes, though. It's nicely made and is worth every penny. But to me, playing this score was more of an experiment once again proving that the original rocks.
