“Sex on Fire” is an alternative rock song by the popular American band known as “Kings of Leon”. The song was written by the four brothers, band members – Caleb, Nathan, Jared and Matthew Followill – becoming their 1st single, and a very successful one. It was released in 2008 as part of the band’s 4th album titled “Only by the Night”. The song was extremely popular in Great Britain being announced the country’s 2nd most downloaded track in 2009. Besides the UK, “Sex on Fire” spread on to Australia, Ireland, US, Finland and other countries, peaking various musical best-of lists and getting the deserved gold and platinum certifications. The year of the song’s release also brought the band a few Grammy nominations. Due to the song’s theme and energy, it was picked by Victoria’s Secret annual show as part of the soundtrack for the runway. Musically, “Sex on Fire” is an E Major composition at the tempo of 153 BPM.

I read somewhere that the song was written by Caleb in an almost unconscious state when he was curing his dislocated shoulder by a big amount of painkillers. That would easily explain the somewhat delirious character of the composition. But this is also what's so attractive about it! The uptempo mood makes it very suitable for guitar, moreover, this arrangement seems to be fairly simple and the chords aren't complex either.
