An accompanied anthem using three verses of the well-known Advent hymn, translated by J. M. Neale. Starting after a brief introduction (which, repeated and augmented, also acts as a bridge between the verses) with a unison verse, the second is unaccompanied in SATB harmony with the final triumphant verse in mostly unison (divisi to add to the texture) over an adapted accompaniment & a fortissimo "Amen". Used to great effect over the last few years, this is sight-readable by any reasonable reader, but takes very little time to learn by rote for the less experienced.
For choir and organ (Plainchant Version)

In contrast to my new tune for these words (also available on this site), here we have an S.A.Men version from the original "Conditor Alme Siderum" plainchant. Arranged for unison singers throughout the first two verses (split Upper / Lower as a suggestion), S/A for verse three and unison with descant for the fourth verse. The accompaniment is not difficult & builds throughout to the final "Amen". Ideal for a choir short of men, or can be S/A for the 3rd & 4th verse if no men. (An Advent piece, but I have had to categorise this as Christmas.).
