The first of THREE PIECES for organ is entitled 'Source Ground' (Quellgrund), and inspired by some grandiose, incomprehensible paragraphs in the book The Mystery of Golgotha (p.22 & 23). http://www.bo-yin-ra-the-luminary.com/mystery-of-golgotha.html
The core of the work is a short hymn-like melody, which also occurs in BRENNE for violin and piano, and inLEYS III for flute, violin and piano. - About 'Listen' data: This piece was played by Frans Jan Wijma via HW Sonus Paradisi on the Kreszow-organ, Poland. (M. Engler 1732-1737)

In spirit " No. 2 Invocation" ties in with No. 1, for a true invocation requires the whole man. In the piece this is portrayed, as it were, by using the entire spectrum of the organ. Just like in No.1 Source Ground - as well as in BRENNE and LEYS III - the short hymn-like melody resurfaces here, but now a whole note higher. - About: "Listen": this piece was played by Frans Jan Wijma, via HW Sonus Paradisi, on the Caen - St. Etienne, A. Cavaillé-Coll (1882-85) organ.

On the one hand, I have associated the title of No. 3 with the following Old Dutch saying, of which I do not know the source: "With mouth prayers / Nor sing alone / God is pleased. / That which sings the heart / Penetrates the clouds. [See in Comment below] On the other hand I see the title as a reference to the divine spark that every human being carries in his heart, as the ancient oriental mantra says: "Om mani padme hum" (The jewel is in the lotus).

Recent review from Take Effect on SOURCE GROUND/ on the organ works
https://takeeffectreviews.com/ may-2023-4/2023/5/31/hans- bakker Delighted with this recent review from Take Effect! About the 4 organ pieces: '... The keys again are present later on in “Three Pieces for organ”, where Frans Jan Wijma’s organ prowess is calm, reflective and sometimes haunting, while Maarten Wilmink takes over on organ for the dense, eerie album highlight that is “Toccata For Organ”...'
