“Surrender” is a popular rock song by the American band Cheap Trick. It was written by the band’s guitarist Nick Nelson and released in 1978 as part of Cheap Trick’s third album “Heaven Tonight”. The song also came out as a single and became the first composition to enter Billboard’s famous Hot 100. American magazine Rolling Stone named it one of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Technically, “Surrender” is a B-flat major piece with two key changes – to B major (after the intro) and C major (after the second chorus). Lyrically, the anthem describes the relations between parents and their baby-boomer son. Besides the U.S., the song became especially popular in Australia, Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands and Japan. Other Cheap Trick single include “ELO Kiddies”, “California Man”, “I Want You”, “Kiss Me Ten” and others.

A classic rock tune like Surrender is always a lot of fun to play whether it's gonna be performed on guitar or on piano. There are arrangements for both here as I see, with a little difference to mind - the chord progressions are softer and easier on the piano than they are on the guitar. However, a little flaw of the piano version is the fact that it can't fully deliver the unique style of Cheap Tricks' live sound. To imitate it, you will have to tailor the arrangement and adapt it to your skills and needs. It's no big deal, though!
