This is a great warm-up and finger strengthening exercise that takes less than 5 minutes to complete. (Audio sample is 70 bpm.)
Each bar in this excercise should be repeated at least twice. The value of this excercise lies in the shifting 3-dimensional geography of the keyboard as the hands move through the different key signatures, requiring forward motion and backward motion. (Specifically, as the thumb moves from a white key to a black key and vice versa.)
Playing each hand separately is of great value also. As always, the power of the fingers comes from the palm of the hand and this awareness should be cultivated so that there is no extraneous finger movement.
