Throughout the entire piece, a recurring pulsing arpeggio is repeated. This represents the constant energy required to sustain life itself. Day after day, week after week, year upon year, life goes on. Do we really have any control of the outcome or does the same repeating motif follow us through every moment? Sometimes we can stand out, but we must always be true to our inner self. The player is encouraged to add dynamic to the treble line but try and retain the pulse of the ostinato. Written in Eb minor for solo piano.
