Opus 13 consists of three sonatinas for harpsichord, not too difficult to play and pleasing to the ear.
The First Sonatina is in D-do (D major). The first movement is in sonata form, the second - in lied form - is a pavane (paduana in Italian) - an old, slow dance - and the third movement is a waltz preceded by a fugato introduction (entrata in Italian).
The Second Sonatina in G-re (the dorian mode on G) starts with a ballad set to music for a choir of six voices. This ballad is the theme for several variations and a concluding fugue.
The Third Sonatina is in C-la (C minor). Its first movement is in sonata form, the second - in lied form - is a sarabande (sarabanda in Italian) - another old, stately dance - and the third movement is a double fugue.
