Written in 2006, this piece started out as a bit of a joke--I wanted to see if I could take a Webern 12-tone row (from his Piano Variations) and, taking it as a bass line, harmonize it in a tonal manner. Realizing that the row actually lends itself fairly well to tonal harmonization, I weaved a few more transpositions of the row into it and created this little showpiece out of it. I ended up performing it at my senior piano recital at Michigan in 2008, and it is that performance you'll hear in the preview. Webern might be rolling over in his grave, but I hope you enjoy it!
