I tried to write a Novelty piano piece that is playable by intermediate performers. Stan Laurel went to school close to where I live and I wanted to capture a little of his character in the tune. A slice of melancholy, a small dose of nostalgia for a more daft and innocent time, a look of bewilderment and impending doom. None of which is in my piece. Unfortunately I couldn’t capture his genious either.
