A calmly solemn piece, 1' 50" duration, by William Byrd, originally for keyboard, from the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book early 17th C. England. Whilst the top part is in slow, steady note, like a Cantus Firmus, the three lower parts have a good deal of scalar movement. Really brings out the beautiful, human voice-like, sound of the clarinets.
