A song cycle for voice and piano (written with soprano in mind). Inspired by the Celtic Story "The Dark Doctor" as told by George W. MacPherson in the book "Celtic Sea Stories", Luath Press.
The story begins with a boy who spends his days searching for something, which even he doesn't know what it is, until one day he finds a mysterious instrument given to him by the sea. Everything changes then.
The songs tell the story and convey the magic of the sea as well as the emotion felt by the characters through the twists and turns. Musical inspiration, the mystery of the sea, and a mother's love for her son, are some of the key themes.
