A jolly and humorous song with sad undertones - how can we find true love looking in the personal ads. The ads are invented for the purpose of the song and do not represent any living or dead persons.

Words and music by David W Solomons, a bitter-sweet and somewhat camp comic song about personal ads, all invented for the purpose (tempting though it was to use real ones!)
The recording is from the CD Songs of Solomons and was performed by Stephen Taylor (countertenor) and Jonathan Leonard (piano), who have given permission for use of their performance. Many years ago I wrote a song about looking in the personal ads, imaging four rather different individuals
searching for their ideal partners. The effect is comic but also a bit sad.
At the suggestion of a cellist friend of mine I have created an additional cello part for it,
added a couple of little solo passages for her
and some moments (pauses and cello chords) for optional histrionic expression on the part of the performers generally.
Two versions of this are avaialble, one with piano and one with guitar accompaniment -
the accompanying styles are rather different between them, so I have published them separately.
