„Pillowtalk“ ist ein Song eines englischen Sängers und Songschreibers Zayn (Zain Javadd Malik), der als einer des Sängers der Boygroup One Direction berühmt wurde. Das Lied wurde von Zayn zusammen mit Anthony Hannides, Michael Hannides, Joe Garrett und Levi Lennox geschrieben, Lennox war auch als Produzent daran beteiligt. Es wurde am 29. Januar 2016 als Leadsingleauskopplung aus Zayns Debütsoloalbum „Mind of Mine“ zusammen mit dem begleitenden YouTube-Musikvideo veröffentlicht. Der Song war kommerziell sehr erfolgreich und platzierte sich gleich auf der Spitze der Charts weltweit, darunter sind die britischen Singlecharts und die Billboard Hot 100. In Österreich stieg er auf Platz 3 und in Deutschland konnte „Pillowtalk“ Nummer 5 belegen.

Ever since this 'long-anticipated' song by Malik was released and started cresting the music charts, I've been wondering 'why so popular?' and getting curious to try it on the piano. So here's what I've come to after printing out the music score and giving it some time. Contrary to my previous thoughts, the song turned out to be completely ... simple. Musically simple, I mean, the easiest chords for guitarists and pianists alike, the safe vocal range and a lot of space for improvisation. All this makes the composition very accessible, you know what I mean? Basically, anyone could interpret it on his/her instrument and even sing to it not deviating too much from the original Malik's version.
