“I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing” is a well-known song from the 70s. It comes from a very popular then commercial made for the Coca-Cola company. The tune was produced by the American songwriter Roquel Billy Davis and originally contained the lyrics “buy the world a coke”, written to portray the company’s positive intentions in carrying hope and love to the world and teenagers in particular. Soon the jingle caught on and the fans kept calling the Hillside radio station asking for the composition. That’s when the studio decided to create its own band “The Hillside Singers” and record the jingle omitting the brand references. Their creation became one of the 100 best songs of 1972. Later in 1981, the popular English pop band The New Seekers re-recorded the work into a full-length song that became a huge hit in the UK and the US. The sheet music of this latest version is available for instant print on this page.
