“Writing's On the Wall” is a song from the 24th film about the famous ‘007 agent’ James Bond – “Spectre”. The single was written by the popular English singer and songwriter Sam Smith alongside with another songwriter from London – Jimmy Napes who also became one of the song’s producers. The orchestral pop single “Writing's On The Wall” was released in 2015 as a digital download and received mixed reviews from the critics. It did peak to the first position in the UK Singles Chart (becoming the 1st James Bond song to do so) and won two major awards – Best Original Song (Golden Globe) and Best Original Song (Academy Award). However, unlike other James Bond theme songs, “Writing's On the Wall” did not perform so well outside Europe. For example, it only went up to No. 71 on the famous Billboard Hot 100 (compared to Adele’s “Skyfall” at No.8). According to Sam Smith, the demo of the song appeared in under half an hour in a creative musical whirlwind and resulted in being one of the highlights in his career. Sam Smith is also famous for such music hits as “Latch”, “La La La” (with Naughty Boy), “Money On My Mind”, and “Stay with Me”. Great version for an intermediate like me. I feared I was not going to pull it off but it turned out to be pretty manageable! The piano notes are flowing nicely and the melody is quite soft, feeling so powerful being able to play Sam Smith' grand theme like that)). I only wish there more left-hand depth but the overall quality of the score seemed high to me, I believe it's the most accurate version of the song I've come across by now
