I used to believe that Frankie is the only one singing this piece 'right', the chairman of the jazz board, so to say) I played his version of the World on a String and thought it was the only legit jazz performance there is. But now that I've printed out the perfectly annotated score of Bing Crosby's performance, my heart has melted once again! It swings so nicely on the piano! No chords to fear and so much light in the style, I wouldn't think that something other than Sinatra's variation of this old classic would bring new emotions and a broad smile to my face. Thanks for bringing so many interpretations to a musician's attention!
