A macabre work, though that’s typical of the majority of Gustav Mahler’s compositions. It makes you slow down your step and meditate, reconsider both your life and your environment…Moreover, this is a setting of Friedrich Rückert’s verses, who was a very controversial, but at the same time influential poet of his time.
