MELODY INTERPRETATION CARDS LEVEL I
Indicated as a teaching aid for children approx. ages 5 - 11.
Ideal also for general music classes and beginning choral Ensembles.

AIM
The aim of the card games is to help the young singer acquire preliminary sight singing skills in an entertaining and stimulating fashion with the aid of descriptive title phrases that analyze the brief musical examples printed on each card. Students are asked to interpret only proportionately the duration and the melodic direction of the notes in group activities.

MELODY CARDS LEVEL I (cards with Captions in English & Spanish). Available also in Korean, Italian & Japanese

64 cards with analytic title in English and Italian to print out on colored paper. Students work with one or two cards per game.

DIDACTIC CONCEPT AND GENERAL PROCEDURE
Students are asked to freely interpret high and low sounds, long and short notes as indicated on the cards. The descriptive phrase included over each motif briefly analyzes the melody and helps the student in interpreting and remembering the card. Lengths of the notes and rests need only be interpreted relatively (black notes are shorter than white ones) and Intervals are merely indicative: only the general direction of movement should be requested. Each student is expected to sing the same card differently.
