O´Carolan was an Irish Composer, that lived way back in the 17th. Century. Blind due to smallpox in his young ages, he became a musician and his Melodies were later noted on sheet music by his soon. His way of playing, his arrangements or accompaniments, (or "productions" how we would say today!) are lost, because he could not wright it himself, they did not have recording technology back in those times, and most of his music was published after his death, so he was not there to "check it out" ! We have, between 200 and 300 from these melodies left. I made this arrangement for the little Lap Harp (or a Gothic Harp), one very similar to those that O`Carolan used to play with, and I tried to make this "production" inspired by the descriptions from people and friends who Loved him, and heard him playing. I am very inspired also by paintings from him, and anything that brings me closer to what we could call "Time travel", or Parallel Dimensions. It was more or less 300 years ago, and Ireland was having a real bad time against the English occupation. O` Carolan still managed to have a respectful "Bard life stile" and he was than later named as - "The Last Irish Bard". This is however not an "Historic Interpretation" on Historical Instruments. This is only my own personal and individual approach to the Music of this Great Man that I Love and feel so close. This arrangement for the little Harp is easy playable, even a Child can do it.
