Born of slavery, this stately 19th Century African-American hymn (arranged for SATB a cappella) emphasizes that persistence of faith in Christ- in a world that discourages hope- will be rewarded. The text is strong, and the harmony is rich and straightforward. This arrangement was inspired by an earlier arrangement entitled "Fighting On" by T.P. Fenner and colleagues (1900).
