I know there are arrangements out there of this hauntingly beautiful 18th variation of Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini Op. 43. I just couldn't find any that were faithful to the solo and the orchestra part (2nd piano in this case). I used the composer's own 2nd piano part to fuse together with the solo and the orchestra part on one piano. I hope you enjoy playing it. Here is a performance of me playing the piece.

“18th Variation” is one of the 24 music variations from the set “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini” composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff. This concertante work (which rather resembles a piano concerto) was written by Rachmaninoff in 1934 at his villa in Switzerland. The variation No.18 is probably the most recognized and well-known part of the set that is often performed independently. The D flat major ‘Andante cantabile’ (18th Variation) was created on an inversion of Paganini’s theme melody in A minor. This composition was the most appealing to Rachmaninoff himself.

It used to be my mom's favorite rhapsody... It reminds me of her whenever I listen to it now. I would be more than happy to hear the live rendition of it performed by BBC Symphonic Orchestra
