I began this piece in the months after my father passed away in 2011. It is a reflection on his warm, generous spirit, with the kind of romantic harmonies he so loved in classical music. I should also admit that the music is unabashedly sentimental in places, so lovers of atonal “modern” music had best look elsewhere. "Reflection" has been categorized as "advanced" because of the challenge in managing both the melody and part of the accompaniment in one hand, while maintaining legato playing throughout. That said, I've been told by pianists who have performed it that the piece lies well under the hands and is pleasurable to play. So please, see for yourself. Give it a try!
