Between 2017 and 2025, I composed many arrangements of well-known, mostly German Christmas carols for a saxophone quartet. Many of these pieces have been published as sheet music by Chili Notes; I would like to offer some of the as-yet-unpublished songs for download here.
The Christmas program has often been performed in concerts, and it has also proven to be well-suited for performances at music schools.
Most of the Christmas carol arrangements have a classical style, yet they are arranged with a more or less jazzy feel and consistently offer room for improvisation. “Herbei, o ihr Gläubigen” is also known as “Adeste Fideles.” In keeping with the song’s cheerful theme, it has been arranged in a jazzy style and expanded to include both notated and free improvisation sections.
The MP3 file was created using the Sibelius composition software, which may result in minor inaccuracies in the performance.
