This work consists of two parts which are of the same length which are played without pause. The same long melodic sequence is played twice by the saxophone. One of the"clues to understanding this work lies in the fact that the brilliant piano part which is radically different in both repetitions is written to give the impression that the sequence is not repeated at all. The players should keep this in mind in rehearsing this work.
