Nice music for intermediate or amateur strings. Some 3rd position for 1st violins, some accidentals.
Rio Doce is a river in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil. On Nov. 5, 2015, a dam broke, releasing mud and mine tailings into the Rio Doce, killing 17 people, causing an ecological catastrophe.
There is also a bus company called "Rio Doce". I was riding on one of their buses when I first wrote down the ideas for this music. The center section of the piece, with low register notes, represents the heavy mud that covered everything.
