Written in 1786, "The Marriage of Figaro" is one of Mozart's best loved operas and the Overture is often performed on its own. It is, of course, a delightful piece and has been set in many different formats.
I have recently become acquainted with the flute choir and find it a very rich medium in which to work. The many forms of flute offer a range of color not found in other instrumental families. I have found this medium very rewarding and plan to continue with it in many more arrangements.
This piece would be ideal as a teaching tool for more advanced instruction or even as a concert or recital piece.

A new arrangement for marimba duo by Nick Baron of Mozart's brilliant overture. It is one of the most popular and recognisable pieces of orchestral music ever written; exuberant and joyful throughout to listen to, and as much fun to play on marimba. I have presented it here in a format for Woodwind Quintet in its original key (D Major) and also in E-flat for those groups that prefer that sort of thing. I think it works well either way. I hope you do too.

Uplifting! Powerful! Dynamic! That was my very first impression of the Overture to the Marriage of Figaro when I heard it in Teatro Romano di Ostia Antica in Rome a year ago. The live sounding stole my soul forever. As a cellist I got down to the search of the sheet music for this piece – and here it is! I’m getting better and better, I may say. Oh Mozart, you will never cease to take my heart away by every single piece of yours!
