“Silence” is a song by the Canadian electro-music duo Delerium. It was released in 1999 and features Sarah McLachlan who acts as singer and co-writer. The original composition is a downtempo melody that rather has the structure of a pop song combined with ambient music elements. It also features the well-known Gregorian chant – “Gloria in Excelsis Deo”, which is why the composition was often compared to music works by Enigma, Deep Forest and the like. However, decades after the release, the song ‘changed genre’ and turned into one of the most recognizable uptempo vocal trance hits. That happened mostly due to the prominent club remixes of the song by such artists as DJ Tiësto, Fade, Paul Oakenfold.

This composition has that special complexity that is most often not to be found in music like this. Very nice!

es gibt zahlreiche Remixe und Bearbeitungen dieses Songs, aber die Originalversion mit der wunderprächtigen, engelhaften Stimme von Sarah McLachlan ist etwas unglaubliches. Bestes elektronisches Ethno-Lied aller >Zeiten!

One of the pieces I use for yoga classes. I absolutely adore the choral part at the beginning of the song. I believe that would be a perfect music piece for any kind of relaxation too (the original version for sure)
