“Solitaire” is a love ballad written by Neil Sedaka and Phil Cody. The song’s most popular covers include The Carpenters’ 1975 version and Clay Aiken’s 2004 version. “Solitaire” was the 3rd single from The Carpenters’ album “Horizons”, it reached number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. As for Clay Aiken, “Solitaire”, also titled “The Way”, became one of his three singles, along with “Invisible” and “I Will Carry You”. Released in 2004, it soon peaked to the 4th position of the Billboard and included into Aiken’s new version of the “Measure of a Man” album. “Solitaire” was also featured in the 2004 adventure film “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed”. The song was certified platinum by RIAA.

Although The Carpenter's version did not peak as high, I still prefer it to any other cover of Sedaka's ballad.
