This is a very sensitive arrangement of the well known Spiritual.It should be played very freely and expressively and the piece is very manageable for students and amateur pianists.It is in a Classical style but with simple jazz chording.A beautiful and moving arrangement!

This is a very moving arrangement with some delicate use of jazz harmonies supporting the melody which is on 1st violins throughout. Fairly simple initially. it becomes more challenging as the parts move into the higher register for expressive purposes. A skillfully crafted version capable of displaying your orchestra's finer sensitivities, this is a worthwhile addition to your repertoire.

This is a very moving arrangement in a Romantic/ Jazz style with rich harmonies. A sound sample is available along with a score/part preview. The first section is quite simple but the high notes especially in the 1st violin and cello towards the end may prove challenging!

This American spiritual derives from the period of slavery but actually wasn’t published until after the Civil War. I tried to give this arrangement a new harmonic feel without losing the yearning expressed in the words and the song’s title. The big stretches and the wide hand crossings put this arrangement in the later intermediate and early advanced level.
