This work in four movements, composed for the Papal celebration in 2000, was commissioned to commemorate the life of a German-speaking female saint. There were only two, and the composer selected Mechthild. The four movements of the work reflect four contrasting moods of the somewhat volatile saint. The piece is tonal, although contemporary in style, and not difficult to perform.
